Inside Sharon's Home

May 23, 2014

Happy Friday! Sharon here. One thing I love most is decorating my home. My husband and I bought our little 960 sq. ft. house one year ago this weekend! It was a very exciting time for us, and I spent several nights dreaming about decorating before we even closed on our house! It has been such an adventure dressing it up and finding all the right furniture and knick knacks to make my place feel like me and feel like home. Because decorating is such a process for me, I thought I'd share just one room at a time. Even though I've lived in my house for a whole year, so many rooms are still undone, or at least they feel that way to me. Many will argue, but I have too many ideas in my noggin to allow any other rooms to feel complete. We'll start with the first room you see when walking through the front door, the living room.

This is my dear puppy, Skip! Although he's not much of a puppy, he's still our little baby. Skip says, "Hi!"

We were lucky to adopt that piano from my mother-in-law, which I think has made a nice place in our home. Also, in my home, you'll learn that I have a lot of plants. I have had a plant obsession for well over a year now, and once we bought a house, I had to warn my husband, that I may go a little overboard. I'm lucky to have such a gracious, understanding husband. But just know, these survivors are only about 60% of what I started with, but it's so worth the investment since they bring so much life into the room. If I knew more about caring for plants, my house would certainly be covered in them floor to ceiling! But that's just me dreaming..

Almost everything in my home was thrifted. I really enjoy the thrill of seeking out the perfect pieces that will fit well into my home and saving money in the process! My thrifted items include the smallest little miniture horse statue to all the living room furniture. Craigslist and garage sales are my best bet. That's usually how I spend most of my Saturday mornings.

A lot of my inspiration comes from my favorite designer, Emily Henderson. She's a designer from HGTV and has such an eye for weird, quirky, and bold items and colors. She has got a vision for interior design that I can only envy. She is my hero, and I want to be her best friend.

I'm so proud of our little house. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed a peak into my home!
